Charges for the collection of household garbage starting from October 1st!
Use authorized garbage bags for“Combustible garbage” and “Non-combustible garbage”
Your understanding and cooperation is requested with regard to the charges for
household garbage collection to promote recycling, and reduce the amount of
garbage, environmental burdens and expense of garbage disposal.
* There is no change in the collection of recyclable garbage such as plastic items,
plastic PET bottles and hazardous garbage.

Garbage needs to be put in authorized garbage bags
- Maximum amount at one time: Up to three 40 liter bags.
- The collection schedule won’t be changed.
- Combustible Garbage
- Kitchen scraps, Non-recyclable paper (Tissue paper, photos, paper smaller than a business card, heat-sensitive paper, carbon-coated paper, carbonless paper, etc.),Non-recyclable clothes (Tattered fabric, soiled or torn clothes)
- Non-combustible Garbage
- Rubber, glass, ceramic, metal, and leather items, small household appliances
(with every side measuring less than 30 cm), cans and bottles for oil and paint
(make sure to empty the contents), things that cannot be disposed of as plastic
garbage (umbrellas, laundry drying hangers, toys, buckets and video/cassettetapes)
Where to buy authorized garbage bags
You will be able to buy them at the supermarkets and convenience
stores in the city and nearby cities from August 14th.

Garbage not in the authorized garbage bags will not be collected!
Garbage collection charge exception
- Maximum amount at a time: Up to three bundles or three bags. (Not including the garbage from volunteer activities.)
- Branches
- Cut branches less than 80 cm long, 5 cm in thickness each, and bundle them smaller than 50 cm in diameter. Take them out as combustible garbage.
- Leaves, Grass
- Put them in transparent/semi-transparent bags (including plastic
shopping bags) and take them out as combustible garbage.
- Disposal Diapers(Not including diapers for pets)
- Flush waste down the toilet and put them in transparent/semitransparent bags (including plastic shopping bags) and take them out as combustible garbage.
- Garbage from area cleanup (From volunteer activities*1)
- Take combustible and non-combustible garbage out separately in volunteer bags (*2).
*1The garbage collected from public cleanup such as from streets and rivers as volunteer activities.
*2 Please apply at the city hall or municipal office before the cleanup.

- Plastic PET Bottles
- Bottles for beverages (including soy sauce, sake, and seasoning except cooking oil) with the PET mark.
- Plastic Items
- Hard and soft plastic products, items with the identifying plastic mark (trays, Styrofoam, PET bottle caps, egg cartons, plastic bags, plastic shopping bags, plastic film, food wrap, CD, DVD, urethane)
- Empty Bottles and Cans
- Bottles for food and beverages, cans for food (including pet food),beverages and sweets, aluminum/steel caps/lids
- Old Paper
- Newspapers (including fliers), cardboard, magazines (books), other paper(postcards, posters, wrapping paper, cardboard, receipt, business card,memo pad, paper bigger than business card (about 5cm×8cm)
- Old Clothes
- Clothes and underwear that can still be worn, blankets, sheets, cotton
blankets, clean curtains (including lace curtains)
- Hazardous Garbage
- Spray cans, aerosol cans, gas cassettes, disposal lighters, fluorescent lights,dry-cell batteries, thermometers
