About Earthquake / Heavy rain

Japan has many earthquakes and typhoons. It is important that you prepare an emergency kit and be aware of the evacuation sites for floods caused by earthquakes and heavy rains. If a disaster like an earthquake occurs, Disaster Support Program Center for Internationals will be established in the MISHOP to collect and provide information such as an interpretation service to confirm the safety of others and consultations.

How to dispose of garbage

Please refer to the Recycle Calendar for the collection days in each area. Combustible garbage and Non-combustible garbage should be disposed of in an authorized garbage bag and other garbage should be in a plastic bag, a plastic shopping bag or a container. The Maximum amount that one household can dispose of is up to three 40 liter authorized garbage bags for combustible and non-combustible garbage and up to three 45 liter size bags for other garbage. Mitaka City provides foreign residents with a “Guide to Living in Mitaka City for Foreign Residents (English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese Edition)” and a pocket-sized “Guidance Card with Useful Tips for Foreign Citizens in Mitaka City” (There are English, Korean and Chinese version each with Japanese included.) containing information to help make your life in Mitaka more comfortable, as well as contact numbers and addresses in case of emergency.We hope the guide will be useful for your daily life. The guide is distributed at the Foreign Resident Registration Desk and Mitaka International Society for HOsPitality (MISHOP)
