Child Affairs Department established to promote childcare policy.
On April 1st, the city established the Child Affairs Department to promote children and childcare policy. Bringing together all of the different activities and efforts relating to children and childcare under one department allows for more flexible and effective policy. The following explains the purpose of the Child Affairs Department.
The Child Affairs Department is comprises of the Health and Welfare Department’s former Child Care Support Section and the Board of Education’s Lifelong Learning Promotion Section’s former Children and Youth Sub-Section. The new department will be divided into the Children and Youth Section, the Child Development Section, and the Child Care Support Section.

The Child Affairs Department is conducting business on the 4th floor of the city office’s main building.
To change organizational names to something more easily understood, all organizations ending with Room (or Shitsu) will now end with Section (or Ka)instead. The English name of the following section will change as follows.
